Welcome to the World of Die Cast!

Ever since Matchbox released their first die cast replica, automobiles have been a favorite collectible of children and adults alike.

Replicas started out small…about 1/64 scale, and gradually moved up in size, topping off at about 1/12 scale, also known at the dollhouse scale. 1/18 is a very popular scale amongst collectors as it’s manageable,  highly detailed and economical. Many examples have working features such as opening doors, hoods and trunks, working steering and even working suspension.

Another popular scale is 1/24, shared by many plastic model kits. This makes it easy to display die cast replicas alongside completed plastic model kits.

But the most prolific of all scales is 1/64, with replicas produced by the top players Matchbox and HotWheels, as well as many other independent brands. This scale is similar in size to HO scale slot cars, which are considerably larger than true HO scale which weighs in at 1/80.
